VivaAerobus dares Continental Airlines to state the facts

Houston, Texas, June 10 2010.- VivaAerobus, Mexico´s ultra low cost airline, calls on Continental Airlines to openly disclose its Monterrey –Houston route average fares and show exactly how much more expensive it is than VivaAerobus’ average fare of
$69 dollars, full price.

VivaAerobus announced its new route from Monterrey to Houston last May 20th, making public its two frequencies a week itinerary, Thursday and Sunday.

As of June 9th Continental Airlines dumped its prices for only the same days VivaAerobus will operate. Thursdays and Sundays you are able to book flights for $90 dollars with said airline, though they seem to have forgotten about Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, since the average fare for these days is way over $450 dollars.

“VivaAerobus challenges Continental to lower its prices every day of the week and not only the days they are finally receiving a true competition. It is evident now that they have been ripping off the consumer for many years and finally they are responding with lower fares””, says Juan Carlos Zuazua, VivaAerobus CEO.

“Furthermore, we openly dare them to publish its average fare so that Houston passengers and those travelling to Houston can know for the first time how much more they are paying when they travel with Continental Airlines. With VivaAerobus they get the lowest fares and best service. We proudly disclose them because we know we are entering the Houston market with the lowest cost structure an airline can have, therefore
offering true low prices”, he adds.

Competition benefits mainly the consumer, airlines improve service, punctuality and lower prices, but it is not fair for passengers to be punished with high fares when competition is not around.

Nobody can match VivaAerobus’ low fares and excellent service. The airline calls for passengers to trust VivaAerobus so it can continue creating competition and increasing frequencies and routes in the future.
