EXTRAORDINARY SECURITY MEASURES ON FLIGHTS TO THE UNITED STATES

Published Monday, July 24, 2017

In recent days, the new extraordinary measures for flights to the United States, established by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), came into force. These measures apply additional security inspections for electronic devices (tablets, laptops, cameras, video games and similar).

Therefore, those who plan to travel to the United States carrying portable electronic devices larger than a cell phone, should take into account the following:

  • Arrive to the airport three hours before departure in order to comply with the established procedure.
  • At the time of the inspection, just before boarding the plane, remove any protective case or covering of the electronic devices.
  • It is also suggested to carry the least amount of the mentioned equipment in the hand luggage. If it is necessary to carry them, they must be presented separately from the rest of the luggage in order to comply with this security examination.
  • This review will be performed by Viva Aerobus staff in the waiting room, just before the boarding process.

We will continue working with airports so that these additional security measures do not impact our passengers' trip or comfort during the boarding process.
