Mexico City, August 15 2018.-Viva Aerobus, Mexico's ultra-low-cost airline, reported an 18% increase in its number of available seats from / to Monterrey in the first half of 2018, as a result of its expansion strategy that favors the state´s connectivity. This is a commitment that the airline has kept for more than 11 years, being the city where Viva Aerobus started operations in 2006. In this sense, on average, the airline operated more than 1,600 flights per month at the Monterrey´s International Airport during the first half of 2018.
Viva Aerobus will continue increasing its presence in Monterrey and expects to reach a growth over 20% in the number of available seats from / to this city at the end of the year. This will be the result of future new routes and the start of operations of its recently announced flights Monterrey-Querétaro, Monterrey-Morelia, Monterrey-Durango and Monterrey-Toluca.
The airline has already launched 9 new routes from/to Monterrey´s International Airport in only two years. In fact, last June, Viva celebrated the anniversary of the first year of operations of the flights to Tijuana, Mexicali, Puebla, Huatulco and Ciudad Obregón. Moreover, the company keeps a record of not having canceled any route from / to Monterrey in the last two years, consolidating the stability in its route network.
“Our strengthening as leaders in the region is a result of the travelers’ preference. During the first 6 months of the year we grew by 18% in the number of passengers compared to the first half of 2017. As a matter of fact, more than 1.5 million passengers traveled with Viva Aerobus from / to Monterrey”, said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.
Currently, 3 of every 10 seats offered in Monterrey belong to Viva Aerobus, being the airline with the highest number of destinations from that city, reaching a total of 30 routes. Monterrey is one of the 5 bases that the airline has in the country, along with Cancun, Mexico City, Guadalajara and Tijuana.
“With our service, which provides a safe and reliable option at the best price, and working together with Grupo Aeroportuario de Centro Norte, we accentuate the economic, bussiness and touristic development of the region by stimulating passenger traffic, offering truly accessible connectivity for all”, added Juan Carlos Zuazua.
Finally, another example of the importance of Nuevo León for Viva Aerobus lies in the new training center to be established, in partnership with the Avenger Flight Group, near the airline's headquarters in Monterrey. This center will have the only flight simulators in the city, providing the highest technology for its crew´s training.
