Mexico City, August 15, 2019.- Viva Aerobus, Mexico's ultra-low-cost carrier, will arrive to Chicago for the first time with its new five winter seasonal routes from Guadalajara, León, Monterrey, Morelia and Zacatecas. These services are designed to meet, mainly, the needs of the migrant population by offering reliable and accessible flight alternatives in five of the main Mexican cities and one of the American cities with the largest Mexican population.

These routes will begin on December 7, 2019 and will be available until January 13, 2020. Flights from León, Monterrey and Zacatecas will operate twice a week at prices starting from USD $179 in single flight. Morelia - Chicago will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays with tickets starting from USD $179; and Guadalajara - Chicago will have a daily flight with prices ranging from USD $149. All services will be operated by Aribus A320 aircraft, which integrate the youngest fleet in Mexico.

"With these new routes we generate more possibilities for families and friends to meet in a holiday season full of celebrations," said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus. "What´s more, Chicago is also one of the most visited American cities by Mexicans and a strategic economic center that we will link with some of the most prominent cities in Mexico," he added.

Viva Aerobus appreciates the trust and support from the local tourism heads in order to keep strengthening the country´s connectivity:

JALISCO

“This route will become an essential ally to attract more visitors to Guadalajara during holidays, contributing to the state economic spill. Moreover, it will allow Jalisco population to have more options to meet with relatives who reside in the US,” said Germán Ernesto Ralis Cumplido, Secretary of Tourism of Jalisco.

NUEVO LEÓN

"We celebrate that a new air bridge shortens the distances between these two countries, directly benefiting Monterrey by contributing to greater air traffic and more options for passengers to transport in an agile and safe way," said Miguel Ángel Cantú, Director of the Corporation for the Tourist Development of Nuevo León.

GUANAJUATO

“With this new route, Viva Aerobus provides one more option between the Midwest and the Bajío region. This international route is a direct benefit for passengers who, for tourism or for meeting with their family, wish to fly between the Bajío region and Chicago. Guanajuato is one of the states with the best connectivity at the national level and this route strengthens it,” said María Teresa Matamoros Montes, Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato.

MICHOACÁN

“Now the state has more flight alternatives and a richer connectivity. This increases its competitiveness, stimulates the air market and facilitates travelers to meet, either in Mexico or in the US, with their loved ones while they discover the cultural wealth of Michoacán,” said Claudia Chávez López, Secretary of Tourism of Michoacán.

ZACATECAS

"We are excited about this second route of Viva Aerobus in Zacatecas, synonymous with tourism growth and a new contact window between two cities that require direct connections," said Eduardo Yarto Aponte, Secretary of Tourism of Zacatecas.

Considering these announces, Viva Aerobus accentuates air connectivity at a key time for tourism, reaching a total of 117 routes: 99 domestic and 18 international. Such expansion and diversification of Viva´s offer responds to the airline's commitment to boost business, tourism and meetings between families and friends through an air transportation at low prices. This has been materialized in the incorporation of 22 routes to its portfolio so far this year, covering a multiplicity of regions of the country.

In this way, Viva Aerobus has been strengthening its presence and leadership in various entities. As an example, in Monterrey, Viva is the airline with the largest offer of destinations with a total of 35, four of them international: Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Houston and now Chicago.

This expansion of Viva Aerobus has been strongly supported by the confidence of travelers throughout the airline's complete route network. “Last July, for the second consecutive month, more than one million passengers gave us their preference. We broke our own record by exceeding this figure. Besides, we reported one of the highest load factors in the industry, which, on average, reaches 90%,” said Juan Carlos Zuazua.

Passengers can purchase their tickets on the official website of Viva Aerobus: https://www.vivaaerobus.com/en, or calling the Call Center 81 8215 0150.
