Viva Aerobus achieves, for the first time, more than a million passengers in a month

Mexico City, July 03, 2019.- Viva Aerobus, Mexico’s ultra-low-cost carrier, achieved, for the first time in its history, more than a million passengers in a single month. This June, the company registered more than 1 million 40 thousand customers, a record that also meant an increase of 27% compared to June 2018 and with one of the highest load factors in the industry, reaching 91%.

"Each month we are strengthened as the fastest growing airline in terms of passengers and we continue with our expansion strategy that allows us to connect more and more destinations at the low prices that characterize us. Thus, we closed the first half of the year with 20 new routes," said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.

Viva Aerobus has had six consecutive months of double-digit growth in its passenger figures. Therefore, so far this year (January-June), Viva has reached an increase of 19% in terms of passengers, totaling more than 5.3 million customers.

In its monthly passenger figures report for June 2019, Viva Aerobus also informs the following:

June 2019

  • In June 2019 the traffic of Viva Aerobus grew by 27%, compared to June 2018, reach-ing more than 1 million 40 thousand customers and with a load factor of 91%.
  • This month Viva Aerobus also increased its capacity, measured in available seat kilo-meters, by 34% compared to June 2018.

Year to Date (January - June 2019)

  • So far in 2019 (January-June), the traffic of Viva Aerobus increased by 19%, compared to the period January-June 2018, reaching more than 5.3 million passengers and with a load factor of 89.8%.
  • The capacity of Viva Aerobus, measured in available seat kilometers, between January and June 2019, increased by 22% compared to the same period of 2018.

Glossary

  • ASK (Available Seat Kilometers): Seat available for sale that flies 1 kilometer (regardless of whether it is occupied or not).
  • RPK (Revenue Passenger Kilometers): Indicates the total distance flown by passengers who paid for their transport in kilometers. It is the measure of the total traffic of passengers who paid for flying (excludes courtesies, employees, etc.).
  • Load Factor: Represents the percentage of reserved seats in an aircraft or fleet in a certain period of time.
