Mexico City, December 4, 2020. - Viva Aerobus, Mexico´s ultra-low-cost carrier, reports more than 955 thousand passengers registered in November 2020; this represents an increase of 8% compared to last October as a result of its reacti-vation strategy and new nonstop flights offer in order to meet the needs of safe and accessible air transportation according to market recovery trends. Consequently, the load factor achieved 80%, one of the highest figures in this juncture.
During November, Viva operated 109 routes (96 national and 13 international) and became the first airline in the entire American continent to have resumed its operational capacity to 100% compared to November 2019. As part of this reactivation, in November the several new nonstop flights started, routes from Cancun to Aguascalientes and San Luis Potosí; and from Mexico City to Acapulco, Campe-che, Chetumal, Ciudad del Carmen and Dallas Fort Worth.
“At Viva Aerobus we keep working to strengthen air connectivity at affordable prices, which is so nec-essary for the responsible reactivation of tourism and commerce in Mexico. For this reason, this De-cember we led the reactivation of the sector being the first Mexican airline to grow our operational capacity compared to last year, with an increase of 10%. We already offer 128 routes, 103 domestic within Mexico and 25 international, nine more routes than in 2019, ”said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.
Compared to November 2019, the number of passengers implied a decrease of 10.6% as a result of the effects of the current pandemic on flights demand and load factor decreased by 8.5 percentage points.
Regarding the accumulated total for the year (January-November 2020), Viva Aerobus reported more than 7 million passengers and an average load factor of 81%. These results, compared to the same period 2019, implied a decrease of 35.4% in terms of passengers and a decrease of 7.8 percentage points in the load factor.
