Mexico City, November 03, 2020. - Viva Aerobus, Mexico's ultra-low-cost carrier, announced today that it is permanently getting rid of change fees, effective immediately. As a result of a renewed commitment to flexibility and customer service, passengers who require changing route, date, or schedule timing within the same day of travel, on domestic or international flights will no longer pay any change fee, only the fare difference, if any.
"This decision is the result of active and constant listening to our passenger’s needs. We are facing critical times on aviation, and many airlines are taking tough decisions at the expense of their customer service. Viva Aerobus has been committed since day 1 of the Covid-19 crisis in building back trust to our passengers by finding new ways to protect their “pockets” and provide more flexibility and better customer service”, said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.
This new flexibility policy applies to Viva Smart, Viva Basic and Viva Light combos. Any change in destination, date or schedule timing must be requested up to 4 hours before the flight online at www.vivaaerobus.com, by dialing the Call Center (toll-free) +1 866 FLY VIVA (+1866 359 8482), at any Viva Tienda in Mexico or at the official airline´s website.
This new flexibility policy adds to the series of initiatives that the airline has established this year in order to stimulate demand, protecting its passengers’ wallets on such unprecedented timings.
Therefore, Viva recalls the creation of ‘TU Aliado’ and ‘Full Refund’. The first one (‘Your Ally’), is a new payment alternative which allows booking a flight and postponing the payment of up to 60% of the total cost, by deferring the Mexican Airport Departure Fee (TUA), from the time of purchase and until flight's departure.
Moreover, ‘Full Refund’ is a new and unique flight insurance, at affordable prices, which guarantees 100% cash refund in the event of any unforeseen situation such as illnesses (including COVID-19), accidents, government travel bans, theft, and adverse weather, among many others.
Finally, regarding our passengers and staff health, Viva Aerobus has implemented the program ‘Viva Contigo’ (Viva With You), which ensures optimal hygiene conditions and prevention measures according to the recommendations issued by national and international authorities.
As a result, Viva established additional disinfection processes in aircrafts and common areas, safe distance guidelines, use of mandatory face masks, and of course the HEPA filters in its brand-new fleet of Airbus a320 aircraft, among many other actions.
